Garland's Navajo Rugs proudly announces its newest addition: The Collector’s Room, a beautiful fine arts and furnishings gallery adjoined to our famous rug store at the Garland Building.
The Collector's Room lives up to its name with a selection of fine art created primarily by Sedona artists who are world renowned. Several of our award-winning artists have never shown their work in a Sedona gallery until today.
Curt Walters and Gregory Hull, both impressionists, specialize in beautiful landscape paintings from locations around the world. Of particular interest to the area are their stunning renditions of Grand Canyon and Sedona’s towering red rocks.
Galen Carpenter and his wife Ann create many of the gorgeous handmade pieces of furniture for sale at The Collector’s Room. Working with local alligator juniper, they have created benches, chairs and ottomans that are finished with cushions made of hundred-year-old Navajo weavings. Galen Carpenter's incredibly fine, turned wooden bowls also are on display. Using exotic hardwoods, antler, and even pinecones, his bowls and vases are amazingly unusual and beautiful. As a testament to his talent, Galen’s work is also featured in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Museum.
One of Sedona’s most acclaimed Cowboy Artists, Joe Beeler, was known for his powerful, memorable bronzes and paintings depicting the true grit of the Old West. Although Joe has left us, his son Jody has released a few of Beeler’s finest pieces for sale in The Collector's Room.
Rounding out our local artists is one of Sedona's finest photographers, Tom Johnson. Don't miss his framed masterpieces, ranging from rodeo scenes to his favorite: large format prints of Sedona’s red rocks.
And what would a Garland family gallery be without the work of great Native American artists? Today's finest Native art is represented by Navajo sculptor and painter Sheldon Harvey, who won Best Of Show at the 2008 Santa Fe Indian Market. His paintings and his striking Navajo Creation Story Spirit sculptures give an added modern dimension to the new gallery.
Finally, to make this a true destination for collectors, we have brought in historic pottery and early Native American basketry from both Bill and Dan Garland's personal collections and offered them for sale.
We are continually adding more artists and there is always more to see. Currently, we are featuring antique Navajo rug pillows, Molesworth-style leather and wood-burl furniture by Taggart of Montana, old Navajo saddles, and an array of unusual antiques.
The Garland’s crew welcomes you to "The Collector's Room" and invites you to discover a whole new world of beauty and collectibility!
