Hopi Polychrome Seed Jar

Nampeyo of Hano

This historic seed jar has been attributed to the great Hopi potter Nampeyo of Hano (1857-1942).  The attribution was done by Steve Elmore, author of "In Search of Nampeyo The Early Years, 1875-1892".  The letter of Attribution states that this seed jar is a fine example of Nampeyo's early yellow ware ceramics.  It further states that in addition to the form, the matching pairs of designs show her Sikyatki revival designs in action.
