Storm Pattern 11' 9" x 15' 9"

To photograph this magnificent large Storm Pattern we had to unfurl it from our second story balcony, note the hands at the top border.  This masterpiece measures 11′ 9″ x 15′ 9″ and took the weaver over a year to complete.  Rugs of this size and quality are rare and we are proud to have it in our inventory.  Click the image to see the details.  To see more of our large rug inventory click here.

Combining Styles

September 25th, 2009

Several weavers that we work with have created beautiful new designs by combining different regional styles into one rug.  The two weavings shown here are excellent examples of how integrating pictorial elements into classic regional styles can create a new and interesting design.  In the top example Stella Nockideneh used the strong geometric elements of the Ganado style to create windows that frame her intricate bird pictorial.  In the next example Lena Williams inspired by seeing horses running across the Painted Desert near her home added horses to her vegetal dyed Wide Ruins.  The blended natural colors make for a perfect “Painted Desert” background.  Click on the rugs to see details.
